FAQs

Window tint or film is a thin multilayered laminate that is applied to the interior of your vehicle’s glass surfaces. LLumar window tint is made of a durable, high-performance polyester substrate layered with materials to help block UV, IR, and visible light. Window tint also contains a dyed layer, a scratch-resistant coating, and a specially formulated pressure-sensitive adhesive that securely bonds the film to the glass.

LLumar window tint doesn’t require special cleaning products. Though it is recommended to avoid using Windex or any other cleaner with ammonia as an ingredient, as it can weaken the glue. The film is scratch-resistant, so clean it using a soft cotton cloth or non-abrasive paper towels. Never use razor blades, scrapers, or abrasive cleaning pads on the inside of your windows, as it can scratch or ruin your film.

Visit the LLumar Window Tint & Paint Protection Film Simulator to see how amazing your vehicle will look. This tool helps you explore different appearances before choosing a film for your vehicle. Your final selection should consider visibility, personal preferences, and applicable window tint regulations.

LLumar window tints block 99% of UVA and UVB rays. They are backed by the Skin Care Foundation, helping protect both your skin as well as your vehicle’s interior. In addition, it can reduce heat, keep your vehicle cooler, and reduce vision-impairing glare. It can also add privacy and protect belongings left inside your vehicle. Finally, tint adds a distinct stylish look. Heat reduction and privacy vary based on the film grade and tint percentage selected.

Wait at least 72 hours (3 days) before rolling down your windows after they are tinted. This allows the film’s adhesive time to set properly and reduces the risk of shifting or damage. Your installer may recommend a longer waiting period depending on weather conditions and the specific film used.

Some moisture will remain between the film and the glass after installation, which may cause haziness, streaks, or a blotchy appearance. This is completely normal. It can take several days or a couple of weeks for the remaining moisture to evaporate. Drying time depends on several factors, including outdoor temperature, humidity, overcast conditions, and whether the vehicle is parked inside or outside. If the haziness persists after a week or 2, reach out to us, and we’ll take a look at it.

No, unfortunately, tint will not stop your windows from shattering. However, it can improve safety if a window breaks. The film helps hold broken pieces together, which can help protect passengers and make it more difficult for someone to break into your vehicle.

The amount of time it takes to properly install tint depends on your vehicle type. For the front 2 doors, it takes roughly 30-45 minutes, and an entire vehicle can take anywhere from 2-4 hours. Installation times may vary depending on the preparation required for your windows.

Unfortunately, we don’t tint roof glass for a couple of reasons. Firstly, Colorado’s higher elevation means the atmosphere is thinner, allowing more intense UV rays and solar radiation to reach the vehicle. This can affect roof glass differently than other windows, causing it to absorb and retain more heat. The resulting temperature difference between the hotter center and cooler edges of the glass can create thermal stress.

Secondly, this can amplify any existing defects like chips or scratches, causing the glass to fail or shatter. Additionally, in Colorado, the drastic shifts in temperature due to weather are even more extreme on your vehicle’s roof. Finally, some vehicle manufacturers will void any warranties involved in the roofs, blaming it on the tint even if your roof has a factory defect.
